Outdoor access and community heritage

One of our most active and dynamic groups is the Outdoor access and community heritage group who have amassed a great deal of information and ideas since they were formed and have the initial framework of a number of projects which with time we hope to progress.

They are currently working on a project with the Mortlach Kirk committee and have already progressed through feasibility to conserve, protect and display both Pictish Stones currently located at the Mortlach Kirk site.

The aim is to enable residents and visitors’ easy access to the stones, and to educate those that are interested about the Picts and their connection to the rich history of Dufftown. Meetings have been had with Historic and Environmental Scotland and we are working on plans to carry the project forward.
