Whilst originally from the Midlands, followed by a long spell in London, Val and her husband have made their home in Dufftown. Whisky brought them to Dufftown and Val and her husband own a local business in Dufftown that has been welcoming customers from around the world for 17 years. As well as the long association with whisky there is much more to Dufftown, its history and environment that they love. Along with the benefits of being here they also know and experience the challenges that go with it.
Val has spent her whole career in public service first as an economist and financial services regulator, and with extensive experience of project management of different sizes and types. Val works in London, in Edinburgh and now in Dufftown too. She is also a Pension Trustee working on behalf of members of their pension plan. As a Director of Dufftown & Mortlach Development Trust Val is keen to develop projects that ensure that others find Dufftown an attractive place to visit, live and work in.
When at home in Dufftown Val loves to spend time in her garden whether that be growing flowers and vegetables or feeding the ever-expanding population of birds that visit.
